Default New Years Day Service

Was checking trains to Belfast on New Years Day and there is only two return services. is this normal for the 1st?

It's a shockingly bad service and fully expect it's NIR who dictate such a service given it's by in large a normal Sunday with the exception of peak afternoon services cancelled from IE. I even think IE operate a lot of capacity on NDY that's actually not needed and suspect it's easier to do so that mess with sets and schedules.

Yes that service pattern has applied in recent years. At one stage there were no NIR services on New Year's day and just one service from Dublin to Dundalk with the crew hanging about for over 3 hours before working back to Dublin.
