A little suprised they kept the 13.10 at Cherryville for 20 mins so not to delay the 13.00 ex Waterford.

A Freight train was heald in Athy until services went back to normal so two passenger trains couldn't cross so IR had no choise but to hold it.

Could the freight train perhaps have reversed into the branch to the former Tegral factory? The initial part of this is certainly useable and understand such reversals happened in the past. The two passenger trains could then have crossed in Athy. Perhaps there's some technicality or signalling point I'm missing but on the face of it this seems perfectly doable.

Train would of being on platform 2, if arrived on platform 1 the service would be to long and would miss the points for acess the siding and as it was coming from Waterford causes problems to.

IR made a good decision and only delayed on service instead of two. if bother crossed there the 13.00 ex Waterford would of being 30 mins late.
