My experience for journey from Lansdowne Road to Maynooth.

Got DART around 15.48 which got to Connolly shortly after 16.00.

Platform 7 was packed.

Sligo train still there so ran to catch it but missed it but there was around 6 or so people trying to get on but no reopening doors.

So back around to platform 7 for Maynooth train. I stood near top of platform since all train suppose to stop at top of platforms but train stopped just after half way.

Most of us squashed on but left a few behind.

Arrived into Maynooth around 1700. Not to bad in the grand scheme of things.

The Sligo train was only half full. Maybe IR could have made an announcement on platform 7 that a train to Maynooth was leaving 2 to easy numbers on commuter route.

I would suggest maybe if the Sligo train made a stop in Coolmine or Clonsilla to easy the load on commuters trains.

Got to lansdowne road for 17.33 to maynooth. Real time online said it was running to 17.38 so not bother there. Got to station. A howth dart was waiting on the platform. This didnt move for the guts of 55 minutes. This we were told was due to someone falling off the platform at tara street.
Cue laughter from those waiting on the train and on the platform.
I think the delays brought out the worst black humour in all of us.

More delays as the gates wouldnt go down.
Finally get on the maynooth train at 18.45 or so. Another 20 odd minutes of delays on the way in.
And you know what? I am thankfull that I even got home at all as my bus stopped running at 3pm today.

Anyone know what level of snowfall would be necessary to stop all rail services?

All I can say is God help us if there's a rail bridge or overhead wire hit.

Rail services should stay running unless the snow starts to cover the rails, so anything less than 4 inches is okay. I'd say we are safe that services will work tomorrow

The Tara Street incident is under investigation and ranks as serious, I got stuck in the Lansdowne Rd level crossing situation. I counted 8 trains stacked up waiting to get through, that stretched to Blackrock

Red Line

Passengers please be advised the Luas Red Line is running from The Point to Tallaght.

Connoll Luas Stop is closed due to adverse weather conditions. However, ALL other stations on the Red Line are open and operating at the moment.


Green Line

The Green Line is operating from St. Stephen’s Green to Brides Glen and is experiencing some minor delays .

Wednesday Night December 1 at 23:00

The Luas Red and Green Lines are expected to operate till 00.30 as per the timetable.

Please note the Green line service is in operation from Sandyford stop to Brides Glen stop only.

There is no Green Line service between St Stephens Green and Sandyford Stop as of now.

On the Red Line Connolly Luas stop is closed - The service is operating fully between The Point stop and Tallaght.

Luas service updates will commence again at 6am tomorrow Thursday December 2nd 2010.

Passengers are advised to check www.transport.ie for transport information and listen to AA Roadwatch and local and national media for Luas service updates.

I'd say it was fairly serious alright. Hopefully the injuries werent too severe.
I was suprised (yet thankfull) at how close the trains were allowed stack up last night. There was an 8 car dart on the platform at lansdowne and the drogheda commuter train was maybe 20 metres behind it just short of the platform.

There is provision at Lansdowne Rd to allow for that case. There is cab signaling equipment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continu...Warning_System which allows for reduction in the overlaps.
