I agree it could have added a permanent Platform 8; Connolly despite being the major city centre hub both currently and potentially has only 6 operational platforms of which only Platforms 6 & 7 see heavy usage and platforms 2 & 4 see moderate usage. Compared to Heuston Connolly is extremely poor in terms of squeezing potential capacity out of existing resources.


Spending €32m on a temporary station at the East Wall end of Sherriff St is an utter waste of money in this context and will in effect sucker commuters into incurring a second fare.
