11:15 Cork-Heuston (bank holiday Monday special)

Internal displays not working. External displays saying "Cork" instead of "Dublin".
Train manager a little enthusiastic with announcements, ensuing distortion meant he was difficult to hear.

Default Fri 3 - 11 -06 18:35 Heuston - Thurles

Had still not boarded as of 18:45, despite annoucement at 18:37
"IE would like to apologise for late boarding of 18:35, this is due to a technical fault. Boarding will commencing in a matter of seconds and train will depart at 18:40"
Another announcement at 18:45, again, apologies for late boarding 'There is another fault and we will provide information to passengers when available'

We gave up and went to the 19:05 Galway for Portarlington because the 18:35 goes from platform 7, it is so freezing there at night you may as well be outdoors and there was no queue, people standing everywhere. Don't know how the 18:35 fared.

Got on 19:05 - ah warmth - did not depart until 19:10 at the earliest, once we had set off driver apologised and said signalling problems. Slow all the way to Port, was asleep, not watching the clock!

7:59 Howth Bray
Showing Howth as destination on rear coach

12:45 Howth Bray
Showing Out of Service as destination on rear coach

12:55 Malahide Howrh
Showing Malahide as destination on rear coach

And we have photos of all three on a platform with the platform display in the background

IE continue to promise that destination displays will be correct, but on the ground things are little better

18:18 Pearse to Drogheda on Friday 10 Oct . Set with 2612 had destination given as Pearse. Came into Pearse from south of Pearse not from Tara side where this could be excused.

Angry '07:35' Portarlington to Heuston (cork train)

I changed jobs in the summer and so started getting the 25 to 8 train (5.30 cork to dublin). However being the experienced commuter that I am I didn't think I needed to check the timetable, thinking that this train was in fact a quarter to 8 train. To my horror one day (about 2 mths into new job) when I arrived to the station at 20 to 8 I discovered the train had left without me. When I questioned why it left early I was looked at like I had 5 heads and was told, 'its a 25 to 8 train'. Like I should have known! It had never gone on time in my experience previous to this.

Since June I have encountered this train actually being on time only twice. And yet even if it's 'only' 5 minutes late people seem impressed. Things are so bad that we are now happy with the situation if it arrives before quarter to. It's extremely frustrating knowing that you have to be there for 25 to when in actual fact you know that you're going to be waiting an extra 15/20 minutes - time which could happily be spent in bed!

Yep, that's the 5:30. You never know when it's going to arrive (any time between 7:35 & 8) and then you never know when you're going to make it into Heuston - due to 'leaves', 'other trains', 'stray kittens on board' <<insert rubbish excuse>>

But it's shiny and new so we're supposed to be grateful. (And the one before it at 7:15 [5:30 ex Galway] often leaves Port commuters standing, and doesn't get in much earlier )

Welcome to my world.
This is the situation with EVERY train running eastbound from Tullamore. I rush out of work every day to get to the 16:26. In 4 years it has been on time twice. 16:36 is the time it really comes.
It's about padding in the timetable.

The day you stroll into that station at 16.35 is the day it'll have left at 16.25.

Just imagine that the Janitor from Scrubs has been cloned several thousand times, that's IE for you.

DARTs over 10 minutes late on mornings of 13/11, 15/11, 21/11, 24/11 with no explanations given as per customer charter. Actually got an response to my complaint e-mail on 22/11, including:
"I have sent a report to the Drivers Supervisor in Fairview asking that these drivers be identified and spoken to directly regarding the importance of making announcements."

Also, southbound platform display at Blackrock was showing no info last night (7pm) and earlier this week (think it was Tuesday).

I have a similar letter dated a few weeks back, its gotten better

Little known fact is they could have PA announcements on all DART services given by the signalman or automatically all the equipment is already in place and has been since 1984

If you hadn't quoted the charter you would have been ignored

16:12 Malahide Bray
None of the electronic displays working
No destination shown on front
Despite the agreement of Irish Rail to stop it the PA kept telling us about the invisible CCTV, even the group of noisy teenagers well knew there where no cameras
