Default Accessible footbridge for Carlow

In Mid-October (2017) IÉ received conditional planning permission for the construction of an accessible footbridge (and associated stairs and lifts) at Carlow linking the station’s two platforms.

The planning documents indicate that the footbridge will be sited to the Athy side of the station building (whereas the current footbridge is located the Muine Bheag side).

The station has 22 scheduled passenger train crossings a week (when a train travelling to Dublin serves the station at the same time as a train bound for Waterford).

It's been long overdue, it also explains why platform works over the summer were only carried out on Muine Bheag end of the station. Thankfully they are not doing a cheap job as at Kildare/Sallins.

There are 2 trains a day (only one on Sundays) where passengers would require to cross the footbridge, So 13 occasions a week unless my maths are wrong !

Mon-Sat
13.05/13.15
14.50/15.10
18.25/18.35

Sun
09.05/09.10

There have been times when one train arrives on the main platform and departes back out before returning on opposite line when both services have a wheelchair passenger.

Isn't that good timing Traincustomer!

Thanks Inniskeen! I've looked again at it...

M-S the following trains cross at Carlow:
13.05 Waterford - Heuston
13.15 Htn - Wfd

14.50 Wfd - Htn
15.10 Htn - Wfd

18.25 Wfd - Htn
18.35 Htn - Wfd

So 3 separate occasions on each day X 6 days = 18
and one on Sundays (09.05 Wfd - Htn & 09.10 Htn - Wfd)

So 19 occasions in a week.

Don't know where the Maths went wrong!

PS: had already posted when I saw your update Jamie

Got my numbers wrong too !! - so the consensus is 19 trains serve the opposite platform in Carlow !!!
