There used to be trains through from Mallow to Cobh, but they went a while ago.
Aside from an imbalanced demand north and east of Cork, it also caused punctuality problems. As long as a train is just shuttling back and forth between Cork and Cobh, the rest of the network (aside from Midleton) doesn't have much of an impact on it and it's easy to stay punctual. Commuters in Dublin will be weary of the way InterCity and Commuter services can impact the DART. |
