Dumped at Clonsilla
Perhaps this has been posted elsewhere: yesterday (Weds) morning's 07.12 from Connolly to Maynooth train stopped at Clonsilla. I got on at Drumcondra as normal and when we arrived at Clonsilla they then told us that there was no train running to Maynooth. All of the passengers got out of the train on to the platform. People from Clonsilla started getting on, knowing that it was their train to the city centre.
As I had to get to Maynooth ASAP, I called a taxi for me and three others. Irish Rail operative in the ticket office told us that "there are no bus stops around here". Taxi to Maynooth cost €37 which I intend invoicing IR for. Any tips on how to make that more successful? |

There is a 239 bus that goes via clonsilla station to liffey valley. It leaves blanchardstown centre at 07.30, 08.30, 09.30 and gets down to clonsilla station 10-15 minutes later. From liffey valley you could have have got a 66 or 67.
seriously its in everyone's interests for Irish rail to start posting local bus and taxi information at stations. Given that there is a major upgrade of maynooth line stations going on this should be forwarded to irish rail and to the department of transport |

Thanks for the reply and the bus route info. Not knowing what goes on with suburban bus routes, a short notice informing passengers of their connection options would be possible. Definitely did not know that 66 would have connected at Liffey Valley but then again, that probably has more to do with my state of mind yesterday morning.

I doubt Iarnród Éireann will reimburse you for the taxi costs unless you take it to the small claims court maybe.
If the train didn't complete it's journey though isn't he entitled to a refund of the fare? |

I was in the same train and had to take a taxi to Leixlip (18E). I'm going to send a complaint to the Customer relations dpt/Connolly Station with my weekly ticket and taxi receipt.
Not sure they'll reimburse me something |
