Default 8:15 Maynooth Pearse [17-12-2007]

Great fun this morning, bear with me:

This train is usually coming from Longford but was delayed this morning, 10 mins was the delay time announced.

At 825 the "inter-city" service to Sligo arrived on time.
All of the paying passengers on that train were turfed off and us commuters were boarded on to much confusion.

So we have a big switch with the Sligo passengers dumped out.
Presumably the delayed train from Longford was then used to let them continue their journey.

I have no idea how the passengers on the Longford train were accommodated at all because someone seriously was losing out.

This could start to explain things

Disruption to Maynooth - Sligo by Corporate Communications

Sligo and Maynooth services are currently experiencing disruption due to a serious mechanical fault

I would love the know Irish rails definition of the word "disruption" Are there cancellations? delays? Its great use to someone who sees this notice and is at two minds about whether trains are running or not.

So, I was told there were 3 hour delays for services from Kilcock this morning. Refund forms were given out on arrival into Connolly, but one of my co-workers did not get into work till 12.15.
Does this make sense?

Sligo line trains are delayed for several hours. AGAIN.

Any word on what caused this?

I wish John Gormley and his carbon levy brigade would move to live along the Sligo line and be forced to depend on the train to get about.
It would be interesting to see how his views would change.

I think this refers to the 17th, all Sligo trains yesterday appeared to be running very much on time
