Default Exit validation

I was in Connolly today as the 08:55 Sligo - Dublin Connolly arrived about 3 minutes early.

The majority of people wanted to use the one machine to exit. Is there a need for education here? (no bad suggestions wanted )

If you lack the common sense to move to another machine you deserve to queue.
This even happens in Heuston where people queue to walk through an open door instead opening one themselves.

When I and Mrs D hit the subway station in the morning, there are two turnstiles (plus the manned one for cash fare a bit further off). One has a metropass and a token mechanism, the other one takes tokens only.

I have pointed out to my missus that by going ahead of me and putting in her token in the dual-mode one, it holds me up as I can't use the other one for my metropass.

Her answer is that she's left handed and naturally goes for the one on the left. Queueing theory assumes that all options are equally attractive - it doesn't account for the human element!

(now if the cheapskates at TTC would only retrofit a few more turnstiles given the huge increase in metropass sales, that'd be nice too.)

In Connolly the doors platform side of the barriers funnel people through the barriers nearest the ticket office side though. removing these would let people spread a bit more.
