Maynooth Off-Peak Frequencies

Got the 21:07 from Connolly tonight. Was standing room only. I can understand it during rush hour, but if people are standing on late evening trains there is definitely a problem.

Is there a reason IE don't increase the off-peak frequencies? There only seems to be one train an hour from about 1900. Clearly there is demand for more. Even if there wasn't, IE need to understand the importance of frequency (AT ALL TIMES) on a commuter/metro system!

FREQUENCY IS KING!

Almost everyone I work with lives on the Maynooth or Northern lines and refuse to get the train because of the rubbish off-peak frequencies. We regularly work after 6.30 with unpredictable finish times. None of them are willing to wait for up to an hour to get the train home so they all drive.

Dublin -> Balbriggan:
18.40 (40 minute gap) 19.21 (56 minute gap) 20.17 (13 minute gap, wtf!) 20.30 (55 minute gap) 21.25

Dublin -> Leixlip
18.37 (33 minute gap) 19.10 (57 minute gap) 20.07 (1 hour gap) 21.07 (54 minute gap) 22.01

I'm usually in favour of prioritising Dart over suburban services but this is a joke. They are driving away existing customers.

Hard to tell if it was just a Thursday night thing, I never bother getting a train after 7ish as markpb said, it's just too unpredictable.

Just from looking at the passengers, there didn't seem to be too many shoppers, definitely a lot of people in work clothes.

It wasn't crush load or anything, but there were 10-15 people standing in each doorway.

I have to say that I am surprised at the volume of people getting the Maynooth train after 7 in the evenings as well, not just on Thursdays.

Is that because the trains that are meant to leave before 7 don't though

I don't understand why services on the Northern/Maynooth lines can't generally be provided at a regular clock-face 30 minutes type frequency at off-peak times. This would provide the predictability/frequency that passengers want - and rolling stock or congestion along Connolly-Pearse are (almost be definition) not an issue at off-peak times I would have thought.
