Dublin Bus is due to begin using biofuels in some of its vehicles today in an effort to reduce its dependence on imported oil.

The company is planning to use a percentage of environmentally-friendly biodiesel in its tour bus fleet.

The fuel is derived from biological sources like vegetable oil and animal fat and gives off fewer harmful emissions than petrol and diesel.

Meanwhile, Minister for Natural Resources Noel Dempsey is due to launch a new scheme today aimed at reducing energy usage by Irish industries.

Ten companies working in the pharmaceutical, construction, IT and agri-food sectors have agreed to sign up the programme.

Both events coincide with the launch of EU Green Week today.
The article isn't great but at least we are starting to look at bio-fuel.
