In the not too distant past there was a station at the Curragh specifically for race events.

When did that close?

The platforms were used very briefly by the Kildare Heuston arrow service in the mid 1990's on race days since then no trains have used the station

The platforms are very low, at least 18 inches too low and are too short for any reasonable length of train.

They did stop the odd intercity train there from time to time (I remember using one 7-8 years ago). The halt fails all kinds of H&S rules now though.

How about a levy on course betting to fund a Clongriffin style 4 track / overtaking arrangement

We could convert some Mark 3s into the worlds biggest horse boxes to bring them up from Tipp.

Or re-open the racecourse next to Clongriffin.
