Default Commuter Trains on Sligo line

Just a quick comment on the Communter trains on the Sligo line. I know these are better than the old trains but the new communter trains are not desinged for intercity services.

There is no room for luggage only an overhead rack for small bags.

The seats are very hard and oviouly not desinged for journeys more than an hour long.

Is IE going to put better trains on the Sligo line is this it?

The 29000 series that is currently being used on the Sligo line is temporary. Sligo was due to get Mk3s but some western politician didn't like "hand me downs" from Dublin so Sligo got shafted with the 29000s instead. There will be newer intercity cars coming on stream in 2008.

There is a very long and detailed discussion on this in the members section so I am closing this thread.
