Default [31-01-2009] 23:10 Pease Maynooth - Coolmine no lights on

Went to get the last train from Coolmine last night and there were no lights on at all anywhere in the environs of Coolmine station. The station had lights and the TVMs worked but darkness across all of the platform and car park.

It was pretty awful for anyone waiting in the darkness but spare a thought for the car clamper who was clamping in the dark at 11:40pm

Met ThomasJ on the train who said the guards were called at Castleknock for unknown reasons.

Trains was approx 20 mins late arriving in Maynooth.

Here was me thinking it was a repeat of the 17:13 to Dundalk on Tuesday night where it was nice and dark in the back 2 coaches

Its a requirement to light the platform for safety reasons

I thought it was a new cost saving measure at first but it was ridiculous from a personal safety perspective, I assume it was a once off failure, the lights were on at the other stations thankfully.

Believe it or not mark it was pitch darkness in two of the carriages last night (train was an eight coach) noticed it when i got off at clonsilla,

at castleknock we were waiting there for five minutes even though the signal was green the whole time. Once the single guard arrived we got the all clear to go

The biggest crowd boarded the train at drumcondra alot of passengers on the platform when the train arrived. I would say all seats taken with a few people standing in four of the carriages in the other four there were seats left.

Not overcrowded but then again i was on the kildare line last night the difference between that and the maynooth line last night was fairly big.
