Timetable
Does anyone know if Irish Rail have any plans to put on later trains to/from Longford to/from Dublin? At the moment the last train leaves Connolly at 1905, whilst the last bus leaves Busáras at 1900. This means that if you just miss one you have a hell of a run on to catch the other. I mean if either was 30 minutes later it would make life easier.
I have already contacted Bus Eireann and Irish Rail but neither have got back to me. Darren |

Welcome Darren, sadly there are cutting back not expanding services
You can blame some local politician in Longford who wasn't happy when Irish Rail proposed to terminate one of the evening trains in Mullingar so it could get back to Dublin and make a later run to Longford. The lack of a service after 7pm is disgraceful and it is one of the reasons Irish Rail is losing passengers they are not meeting the needs and expectations of the public. Rosslare suffers as does west of Portarlington. We where somewhat involved with getting the previously empty 22:15 Dublin Portlaois into service, further embarrassment of Irish Rail will follow to get other empty services into service at useful times While we have found a way to get a earlier morning departure from Longford to Dublin and a way of doing it which actually saves money we can't find a solution to the evening different to the Irish Rail proposal.
