A new report has revealed that Irish greenhouse gas emissions from transport have increased by six times the European Union average.
The statistics are contained in the European Environment Agency's 'Transport and Environment 2005' report, published today.
The report, entitled 'Facing a Dilemma', outlines that between 1990 and 2002, greenhouse gas emissions from transport increased by 130%, compared to an EU average of 22%.

Fine Gael's Environment Spokesperson Fergus O'Dowd said the report was a damning indictment of the Government's attitude to the promotion of alternative energy, particularly bio-fuels.

I'm sure the government will say "With Transport21...." and probably won't do anything more to speed it along or look into biofuel.
