![]() From an article in today's Irish Times about penalty points for motoring offences:
Donegal drivers, for instance, are the second-worst in the State for failing to obey the rules at a railway level crossing. Since penalty points were introduced for the offence in 2006, a grand total of two motorists have been caught driving on to the tracks in Donegal when they weren't supposed to. Now correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Donegal the only county in Ireland without live railway tracks. Surely they aren't being given points for driving over the tracks of the closed half a century ago Donegal narrow guage railway? Last edited by Brian Condron : 03-01-2008 at 13:38. |

![]() Well if you never seen a level crossing its likely to cause trouble
No railways in Donegal The general public have a very low respect for level crossings, the number of user operated gates you see open is crazy, just run the CCTV back off the new 22k's

![]() My point was, the article stated that:
It didn't say that two motorists from Donegal were caught in other counties driving on the tracks, which would have been excusable. Maybe they have their own railway up and running again up there, the rest of us just haven't been told about it. |
