![]() 17:10 train to Athlone on Monday 10th
Train crawled to just before Sallins at 17:50. While there the 17:18 to Newbridge, 17:30 to Limerick and another down train passed, also at least one Dublin bound train passed. Train then crawled up to Sallins and after a few minutes people started getting off(no annoucement). When everybody was off the train an IE guy went along and closed all the doors, train backed out and about 15 mins later another train pulled in. The original train had 5 carriages and was packed, the backup had four carriages and everybody squeezed in(eventually). Train then headed off on its merry way. Issues 1)No PA annoucement was made at anytime to say that there was an issue with the train. If PA is *******ed then why didn't guard walk through the train to advise people. 2)At Sallins no annoucement was made as to disembark the train, it only cleared out due to 'following the herd' mentality. 3)No apology/explanation on subsequent train. 4)Train was over over 70 mins late...now let me print off that compensation form!! Whats the best address to complain to IE? |

![]() First since you where over 60 minutes late you can get a partial refund
Either print this or pick one up at the customer service desk in Heuston http://www.platform11.org/passenger_..._intercity.pdf Secondly this is in slightly limbo according to the internal timetable the 17:10 is deemed a type 'D' a outer suburban train (D841 to be exact) but its a mainline service (not intercity). That is rostered for a Cravens set and well they don't have a PA well some where fitted. Strange the 17:50 to Westport didn't stop to pick you up as it runs non stop to Athlone The address you want Customer Services, InterCity, Connolly Station, Dublin 1. For more instant relief I'd put good money on one Steve Murphy manager south and west standing in Heuston tonight, by all means have a go at him Last edited by Mark Gleeson : 10-01-2006 at 10:11. |

![]() Mark,
what gets to me is that we were about 300m from Sallins station(on the up track!!). They could have brought us in to Sallins and let the 17:18 pick up passengers for Newbridge The 17:30 could have picked up Kildare and Portarlington(extra stop) passengers The 17:50 could have take the rest(Tullamore,Clara and Athlone). I dont know what the problem with the train was but the engine appeared fine as it was able to push the train back out of the station. |
