![]() This here thread is the result of many pm's i have recieved from memebrs and non-members simply crying out for a thread on sports.
So in here you can post away about anything sports related. As I live in Tipp it is only fitting to start this with a hopeful prediction that the Aussies will start smashing England around in the Second Ashes test starting at midnight tonight. |

![]() And as our rail service has been described as a cinderella service, can I just mention the cinderella of Irish sports, league of Ireland football?
The cup final is on on Sunday 3pm in Lansdowne Road. It's St. Pats who are rooted to inchicore against Derry. If you haven't watched any Irish soccer before this (or even if you have) this could be the one to watch. It promises to be a competitive match as Pats have really been saving themselves for the cup this year while Derry just missed out on the league in the very last game. Even go along to Lansdowne Road. I think the tickets are about €20. |

![]() Can I just add that I believe Leinster Rugby should be made the official rugby team of platform 11. Hope to see some of you other enlightened Platform 11 members up in Ravers on saturday.

![]() We cant endorse/support any particular team, as we'd be yet again accused of palerail and GDA tendancies.
Hence my support of Bohs, The Dubs, Munster Rugby, Tipperary GAA, and the Austrailian Cricket Team (although they werent that great last night, albeit facing a very flat wicket) Derry should be favouites in my book to win the FAI game, dont forget its is the last Soccer match in Landsdowne. The final Rugby match involves Leinster later this month, I'm sure the Leinster Rugby lads will fill us in on it. |

![]() Pats,
the dubs, (wexford when the dubs are out of the hurling, then maybe Kilkenny when Wexford are out....) anyone playing against England in anything (It's only sport after all, so before any of you PC types get going, take a chill pill) anyone playing against Leinster in Rugby Leinster in the railway cup (!) I wonder should we speak to the GAA and get it changed to the "Platform 11 Cup" |

![]() Ive been advised that this thread is sexist.
Anyone know a solicitor? Pats to win FAI cup, because Pat Dolan said so on Newstalk. ![]() And finally in breaking news.......hip flasks are to be banned from Croke Park in advance of Rugby internationals. In a statement issued by the GAA a spokesperson confirmed the ban has been introduced after a GAA delegation visted Landsdowne Road during the recent rugby internationals. "We were very disturbed by what we witnessed over the course of the 3 games, said the spokesperson. "While we are making preperations to welcome rugby fans to Croke Park, we cannot accept this practise of a wanton piss-up, that takes place during a game." The delegation claims, in a damning report submitted to GAA top brass, that the "hip-flask" culture must not be allowed into the bastion of Gaelic games. "We are a family friendly organisation and it would be irresponsible of us to allow this unadulterated *******-drinking practise to take place in one of our grounds", the spokesperson added. "The delegation saw with their own eyes the scandalous act of slipping the flask from the pocket of the Armani coat, sipping from it, grimacing as the contents hit the back of the throat and then flagrantly passing it on to the person next to them. Its disgusting." It is thought the report also expresses concern in relation to the quality of singing in Landsdowne road and sources within the GAA have claimed that this issued will also need to be addressed. "The people who live around Croke Park deserve better", said the source. When questioned about these revelations, the IRFU, in a statement, said, "We are waiting on a copy of the report, but we have sympathy for the GAA and hope that these "cultural" issues can be resolved. The statement also reffered to the vast divide between the "quality of supporter" of the two sporting codes. This opinion was dismissed by the GAA, who cited "Dubs fans" as an example of all that is great about supporters of any sport. The FAI refused to comment. |

Please god we'll sit in Croker next year and enjoy good times and a few beers afterwards. Then I want to personally bring you, Bish and Brain back there for "the championship". A P11 sports day! Stamp will be on the hill and we can moon at him from the comfort of a seat! |
