Quick question.....why does this not stop at Enfield when all other services from Sligo do??

Enfield has only one platform and as the 18:18 Connolly Longford calls at 19:23 there is no way for the 17:00 ex Sligo to Dublin to stop
There is no question that the 18:18 will do more business than the 17:00

The real question is why does the 17:00 from Sligo run at all given hour lightly it used and the disruption it causes to the 5 other trains it crosses with.

So you are suggesting there should be no train from Sligo for 4 hours so as to avoid conflict with westbound services, two of which are effectively empty workings - doesn't make sense really.

Well something needs to be done about this service. The evening punctuality is always a mess from October to December. This train has to cross at every available point except one between Dromod and Maynooth so if anything goes slightly wrong in the evening there is no recovering. The situation now is that they are just pushing too much traffic down a single line to support the current timetable.
Maybe they could look at converting one of the effectively empty workings into a later Longford train seeing as how they are finished with the set for the night anyway. Another idea would be to either abandon the clockface timetable for the 17:00 and leave about 30 minutes earlier or later later which would at least clear it from having to cross with a couple of trains. |

1700 Sligo Dublin and 0900 connolly Sligo
I have had to use this service a lot recently and it is a disgrace with always commuter carriages, doors are left open at changeover points blowing da b***s off you, no wi-fi,no sockets, seldom any trolley, when it reaches any decent speed carriages swinging all over the place plus it is nearly impossible to drink you coffee on it so when are they going to put Intercity trains on at these times as in future I will use the car.
