![]() True in some parts of the network but as a daily user they have slightly got there in the case of Thurles/Templemore the time keeping and service has almost 100% improved since the times of the mk3s. Before 2005 the mk3s could be anything up to 30 minutes late. Its very rare for the CAF's to be more than 10 minutes delayed. Was one incident alright few months back but there was a signal problem in Templemore i think. Fares are a rip off though compared to similar sized towns on other lines.

![]() This is a pretty accurate reflection of the Sligo line. Yes, in fairness, we did get a big increase in frequency during the day (which is of no use to commuters) about 4 years ago after the resignalling but since then journey times have gone up marginally and reliability has gone down the toilet - particularly in the autumn.
The biggest improvement I can see for all this money is that I can now plug my laptop in on the train and sometimes I even get power. The 22ks are nice and shiny but I preferred the old carriages. They had a nicer atmosphere with the wood panelling and they were a lot quieter. The 22ks are very harsh - they really could have done with consulting with an interior designer even to the point of using a slightly warmer colour palette. |
