Pity there's none from Cahir, Clonmel etc. There have been GAA specials from there before. But I guess now it means paying overtime to level crossing operators etc.

I doubt many people will use the special from Nenagh. A really uncomfortable 2700 DMU i imagine will be used. Would be surprised if it even makes it as far as Portlaoise. I was in Colbert last week waiting for the 18:00 to Limerick Junction connection and before the opened the door for us, they opened it for the Limerick-Ballybrophy passengers and only three people got on it.

xlnt - great to see that it went direct - irish people have a misplaced phobia about changing trains
good to see the minister took the train himself - i hear that he was spotted on the cobh cork line a few weeks back as well |

Alan Kelly words didn't sound really positive in terms of securing much needed funding for the line. To be fair to Iarnród Éireann it has introduced services and laid parts of new track along the line. The real problem is it will never be as fast as the Bus and motorway or as cheap, and i doubt any more improvements will be a high priority than other projects. Without people in Nenagh using it though they will just have probably pumped money into a black hole.

You can bet the extra costs incurred by opening early next Sunday will magically be used later as an excuse to close when the accounts are shown,
