Default [15/8/2009] All Dublin - Cork/Limerick/Tralee services

Track Improvement Works - Ballybrophy - Bus Substitutions - Dublin/Cork/Tralee/Limerick by Corporate Communications

Iarnrod Eireann advise that major track improvement works will take place at Ballybrophy Station on Sat 15th August from 15.00hrs to 24.00hrs.

During these works services between Dublin/Cork/Tralee/Limerick in both directions will be subject to bus transfers for part of the journey.

Full details of affected service will be available shortly on our journey planner.
The usual lame short notice, only 10 days ahead, surely we are entitled to 4 weeks like the rest of the developed world

Work involves replacing the points at both ends of the station, which in turn will mean the end of the 70mph limit through Ballybrophy

And €10/€20 fares are suspended during the works for some reason, which is disgraceful really; they should be cutting, not hiking fares during periods of reduced service.

Is that not the norm though? Certainly it's the norm here. I think they serve to discourage people from travelling when there is reduced service.
