Heating/Aircon not working? Report here.
Hope this isn't set up already somewhere else.
May I suggest we report cold trains here? Make sure you include the date and time of the service, and the coach number. I'll start with: 8 Dec 2009, 22:25 Pearse - Dundalk. Coach 29312. No heating on (metal vents below seats completely cold). |

Background is Irish Rail gave an undertaking to sort the heating out on the Northern line at the meeting on Monday
Myself and James happened to speak to a manager afterwards who seemed most serious about sorting it out

The idea of getting the doors to auto close after 90 seconds has been pitched to an IE manager, its a simple software modification.

It makes you wonder
I find it odd that the two systems on trains most visible to passengers - heating/aircon & station information are so consistently banjaxed.
Would it be a huge leap to infer from this that more safety critical systems are frequently in a similar situation or is it just that nobody is bothered keeping the less critical systems in working order? I suppose it is an improvement over the old stream-heated early Monday Sligo to Dublin service that regularly didn't have lights let alone heating. |

The NTA contract has targets for the soft issues which will hurt Irish Rail for failure to deliver
The safety critical systems are safety critical and fail safe, if they don't work you don't move.
