Default Dublin to Drogheda 3 & 4 May

From Translink. IE saying nothing as usual.

I refuse to believe that whatever work they are doing has to result in the closure of 31.75 miles of mainline

Enterprise News
Enterprise - Irish Rail Line Closure 3 & 4 May 08 8-Apr-2008 16:00
On Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May 2008, Irish Rail will close the railway line between Drogheda and Dublin in both directions due to engineering work.

Train service will operate between Belfast and Drogheda in both directions.
A bus substitution will be in operation between Drogheda and Dublin, during this period.

As a result of this passengers will be unable to pre-book first class tickets.

However passengers can upgrade to first class on the day of travel subject to availibilty.

This is to do with the reinstallation of a crossover at Skerries which had to be removed following the accident there in January

Obviously thats all speculation but you have to be a gifted physic to understand Irish Rail

Full service Skerries - Drogheda - Dundalk could be provided, it is not feasible to operate anything beyond Malahide on the Dublin side

When you say not feasible to operate anything beyond malahide on the dublin side i presume you mean malahide-skerries.

Given that when the derailment occured there was no darts operating between howth junction and malahide. Whats the chance of this repeating itself?

Surely a Malahide to Rush & Lusk service could be operated by wrong-way running. I realise this may be complicated by lack of signalling, but there would only be one train in the Malahide to Rush & Lusk section at any time.
