8.17am Coolmine-Connolly
I've (mercifully) been off the trains for a good while now, but back again this week getting the 8.17 from Coolmine to town. Fourth morning in a row the train has crawled into Connolly at 8.46. When I look up the Irish Rail website the timetable still has it scheduled to arrive in Connolly at 8.41. So what's the story? Has it just been late 4 mornings in a row?

It depends on which page you are looking it
If its the intercity real time page, if you do a view source you will see there is a column commented out which quotes the exact arrival time as per the computer. There is a 10-15 minute lag before it appears Quote:

Mmm well ok that's in IR's eyes, but realistically is this just a week of continuous lateness or is this the way it's going to be from now on? Anyone know? Between that and them putting the Docklands 8.23 train five minutes later last year aagghh. The idiots don't seem to realise that most people have to be in work for 9 so if they keep pushing the trains back to later times then the few earlier trains are going to be even more jammed.

In NI, UK, Belgium, Switzerland among others 5 minutes = late
Primary cause is the general laziness of Irish Rail, ok the leaves at Castleknock cause trouble but Irish Rail haven't bother to spend the cash to buy equipment to resolve the problem

i get this train every morning, and its late arriving in town nearly all of the time. it either gets held up outside connolly at ballybough or it stands still at the connolly platform for 5 mins before moving off.
besides that it is suffocatingly packed. worst part of my day. |
