Default [06/02/1012] - Heuston-Waterford delays-services suspended Athy-Carlow

Iarrnród Éireann advises that services are currently suspended between Athy and Carlow due to an incident on the line. Emergency services are attending the scene.

Bus Transfers will operate between Carlow and Athy Stations. Delays can be expected.

This website will be updated as further information is made available.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for any inconvenience caused.
All remaining services for today will be delayed.

Some services had bus transfers between Carlow - Heuston but now bus transfers between Athy-Carlow only.

Services Affected:
14.50 ex Waterford
15.10 ex Dublin
16.35 ex Dublin

Line should reopen at 19.00
16.50 ex Waterford
17.35 ex Dublin
currently expected to operate with a delay.

Normal it would make the news but I prosume you all know a person was killed. They jumped in front of the train.

You may well be correct but the final bit of information in your post is best left for an inquest to determine.

Whatever the circumstances it is a sad occurence for the family of the deceased and a very traumatic experience for the driver of the train.

There was a further complication in this instance in that the driver was reportedly the only Irish Rail employee on the train and some time appears to have elapsed before information was given to passengers on the train.

There are very few ticket checkers on Waterford trains on late. Your best chance to have one on board is on some morning and the evening services.
