![]() Hi,
I'm a regular commuter from Sallins station & I just read about the man who died at the station yesterday. The article states that he was trying to retrieve an item from the track. Now, this is just me thinking out loud, but when a train is travelling towards Dublin, the warning that a train is approaching is sounded a couple of minutes before the train arrives. One would have ample time to get off the tracks, even when the train is travelling at speed. On the other side, when the train is coming from Heuston, the warning sounds with generally less than a minute before the train travels through, especially when the train is not stopping. I can't help but wonder if this disparity in timings of the warnings from the different directions could have caused some confusion where the man thought he had more time to get off the tracks than he did? ![]() No one is in a place to make a judgement
It goes without saying, never go on the tracks for any reason.

![]() There is no difference it's 1 minute before train comes, regardless of a PA system you should contact somebody if you need to go down to the tracks.
Yellow line and raised bumps are at the edge of the platform for a reason to prevent such things as items being dropped onto the tracks. Outbound the station is on a slight bend so the train would of had to be almost crawling to have any hope of stopping. It was a accident Last edited by Jamie2k9 : 03-03-2014 at 11:59. |
