Default [27/08/2012] 7-8am Cancellation Drogheda-Bray

07.12 Drogheda to Bray service failed at Drogheda this morning.
I got into my (en-route) local station at 7.30am, and just caught the tail end of an announcement saying there would be a 20 minute delay. Within 2 mins, all the LED displays were turned off (I subsequently heard there was a local power failure in the area, so that might have been linked. It might also have taken out the ability of local/CTC staff to make any announcements?).
That was the one and only announcement about that delay in the next 1 hour and 20 mins I stood either waiting on or on delayed trains. Very poor information to passengers, again. To be fair, they seemed to have made an earlier announcement when I was about 3 mins from the station as the sound travels that early - I could not make it out, but assume it was related to the breakdown. Again, maybe other stations on the Northern suburban line faired better?
Felt sorry for all the kids on their first day of school having to explain why they were late.
Thankfully, the 07.24 Drogheda to Connolly normally has plenty of capacity, although it was generally standing room only from Balbriggan, and seemed to stop taking passengers on at Malahide.
