Default EC 2962/2011

The EU has yesterday published a new regulation requiring standardization and interoperability on international rail ticket bookings throughout the EU.

This is mentioned to some degree in the EC 1371/2007

After the ash crisis I exchanged some emails with our friends in the European Passenger Federation and made the point a passenger should be able to book end to end and therefore retain there cross border rights throughout. This would extend to ferry passage as part of the journey. This did get to the commissioner in Brussels

Irish Rail are out to get a new booking engine next year and the soon to be seen in public replacement journey planner can do any to any journey planning across the entire EU. Demo in the members area

The standardisation of pricing could be the real interest though
