mk4 loos
yesterday got the 1755 limerick->junction->dublin , picked up the train from Cork at the Junction [ about 1820 - what's that, the 1730 ex cork ? ]
unscheduled and unannounced stops at Portlaoise, Portarlington and Kildare [ only supposed to stop at Thurles ] into dub at 2020 or thereabouts so not too bad but most of the loos were out of order, don't they empty these at the terminus any more ? |

Even with 3 extra stops still ontime, its amazing isn't it
They are lazy about emptying the tanks, if you look at the wall opposite the toilet door you will see two sets of gauges, one on the left is the % water available right side is the tank level, if the tank is full or the water runs out the toilet will go out of service The level of failure on a Mk4 is unacceptable, its rarely due to other issues and raises a very significant accessibility issue, wheelchair user either won't be able or will have very serious trouble getting to the next coach. The poor availability of accessible toilets has to brought to the attention of the DoT during a recent consultation process on accessibility in the transport sector
