Default 05-07-06 Delay at 8.35

While on the 8.15 ex Donabate to Bray the train came to a halt at Clontarf Road.

Within 2 minutes the driver came on to say that due to points failure between Connolly and Pearse (Tara?) and that there were delays on all trains travelling through Connolly.

After about 15 minutes, we pulled into Connolly where the driver informed us that due to Signal Failure between Pearse and Grand Canal Dock there were delays.

I ended up arriving at Lansdowne at 9.30, about 40 minutes late.

Do you think that there were two separate engineering issues here or do you think that the driver had wrong informtion?

A points failure is a more specific failure of the signal system, if the points suffer a fault like moving but the locking system not verifying the points are locked in a correct position the signals won't change, equally a failure of the wiring or a relay could mean the points don't move

Don't worry its all fail safe so cutting a wire will result in the system falling to a safe condition

Most likely issue is a failure of the points just south of Pearse station
