Temporary Spencer Dock Station
Yesterday and today I got two different trains from Castleknock (8:07ish and 8:19ish, sorry, don't know the exact timetabled times..)
The 8:07 was a 6-car set, with plenty of standing room. It operates to Connolly only. The 8:19 was an 8-car set, and it was very full - crush load. It operates as far as Bray I believe. So, from the above, it appears that the train running through the city center and out to Bray is MUCH more popular than the one terminating in Connolly, as passengers on the 8:07 have to transfer onto already busy DARTs to travel further. I've always had serious reservations about the temporary Spencer Dock station, but I now really believe that it will discourage a huge proportion of current passengers from using the train at all. How long is the walk from Spencer Dock to Platform 5/6/7 in Connolly? how long do you then have to wait to get a DART? This could add 20mins+ to a trip from the Blanchardstown area.... suddenly the bus starts to become a better option. Are ALL Maynooth line trains going to run to Spencer Dock? |

Those trains which serve Pearse and beyond will continue to do so, the bluk of trains terminating in Connolly will continue to so so. Approx 4 new trains per hour will use Spencer Dock they all will be coming from Dunboyne when the line opens

Ok thanks for the clarification.
I can only assume that passengers in Coolmine and Castleknock will largley try and avoid those trains. Will Dunboyne have enough passengers to fill 4tph? |

If I recall correctly, there are 40,000 people working in the IFSC. There should be reasonable demand for trains to the temporary docklands station, though I expect trains will be less packed than those going through the city centre.

40000? can i be so rude as to ask where you got that number ?
-- i ask because i am trying to find out what the real level of demand for transport is in this city. So far i have found from the Dto's rather cryptic reports that 80,000 cars drive in to the city each morning. |
