Default Platform 3 at Mullingar

Can somebody tell me what platform 3 is for in Mullingar? It used to be known as platform 5. 7 years ago IE took the rails out of platform 3 now it has rebilt the platform but no train ever uses it its just the end of the line? So whats this platform for?

Platform 3 or platform 5 as this which it is correctly referred to as the cavan bay

We have no idea what Irish Rail are playing at since Mullingar had 4 servicable platforms, the 2 Athlone platforms lie idle, one of which required little more than resurfacing no need for accessibility works

Well the platforms are not destroyed but they'd need to repair (ie set them back to those to 2 years ago) the track layout for them to be used properly.

No, its impossible to know what IE are up to because Mullingar now has 5 platforms for 9 trains per day.
