Possible to get an extension ticket?
Hi
I have booked a return from Dublin to Cork departing Friday evening and returning on Sunday afternoon. I now have an event on Friday evening which will mean I will miss the last train to Cork. Is it possible to buy an extension ticket on Saturday morning and retain the original ticket. Alternatively would I be better off cancelling the ticket and booking the new journey. Thanks |

Changes only possible to a different train on the date of travel for 10 euro
Further complicated by wishing to cancel the outbound leg, as taking the return leg implies the outbound was taken, no refund possible. If you have not already collected the ticket, call the number on the booking confirmation email during working hours Most likely only option is to book a new ticket for the outbound leg. Bear in mind you will need to collect the ticket already purchased before 2100 on Friday (any station will do)

I may be totally wrong on this but assuming your "return" was booked online, have you not in fact got two single tickets, one Dublin to Cork and the other Cork to Dublin. Would have thought you could cancel the Dublin to Cork ticket and get an 80% refund (four days notice required - see IR web site) and simply re-book the ticket you require.

Its sold as a return ticket, one physical ticket
The fare may be either the sum of the singles or based on the applicable return fare (day saver or full fare) for the journey dates/time
