There was a good turn out for the 0745 Midleton - Cork on 4 June. There was about 80+ at Midleton, 6 at Carrigtwohill, 5 at Glounthaune, 1 at Little Island. Not sure what the 0730 Cobh - Cork was like.
However, at Midleton station the guy on the intercom kept informing ppl that the first train would be 0845 Midleton - Cork and that a 'Sunday service' was in operation. This was repeated over and over again when:
I don't think anyone actually left the station. The PIS was only displaying 0845 Cork, nothing to suggest the 0745 was operating. I'm about 99.9% sure that both the person working the level-crossing and the guy on the intercom both work from Mallow. Even with the train not being advertised anywhere, except the journey planner from Wednesday/Thursday onwards there was a reasonable turnout. Just goes to show what might happen if there was a bit of advertising done. I had been told by Kent Station that there was no demand for a 'Marathon' service. F. |
