Always a secret handshake for the politicians
Nenagh has failed so its going to see some major changes. Looking forward to significantly reduced Dublin Cork schedules Full pdf will be available in coming days

brompton - if you can't work a 8.30-4.30 or a 9-5 job I don't think it can be called "commuter".
I won't rejoice if Nenagh is cut completely. There were better ways it could have been operated, particularly if the Limerick commuter service was the paramount consideration rather than an afterthought to Dublin facing services and had been timetabled to not only give commuters a workday but also include Roscrea in its catchment (from which no competing bus service operates unlike the Nenagh market which is served head to head by JJK and BE) However you slice it though, a given service should have more passengers than signalmen. It could not go on as it was. |

any idea when us plebs are going to see the proposed timetable
Just signed over a significant amount of money for my taxsaver ticket for 2013 without knowing the potential cuts to services |

We have an understand with IE on Taxsaver, passenger will be refunded remaining value on unused portion if a significant timetable change results in that passenger being unable to travel by rail

A pity, but I've been here before with this service. A few years ago when I moved from UK the guard in Birdhill only had a clattered cash box, usually with little change, for people to pay for tickets. Now they have contact-less payment technology and wi-fi onboard the branch line. More recently, the city's bus services have been realigned so that now the services to the Regional Hospital, Raheen industrial estate and University all stop at the rail station. All major commuter markets. Don't think anybody has promoted this to extract value from it. An opportunity for integrated ticketing even? The whole shambles make my blood boil.

The problem is an obsession with Dublin which shoots down logical local travel options.

Full of politicians
Athenry Galway, Cork Cobh, Cork Midleton are all extremely successful Nenagh - Limerick every 2 hours or better would do wonders but the lack of a second platform at Birdhill is a killer Nenagh Ballybrophy will meet the wrath of the civil engineer soon, its in horrible condition and cannot last much longer so people need to get real about the future

The Nenagh is going no -where fast , until you get 60/50 mph , services at PEAK and SUITABLE times then it will fall into place and you will have proper service , until such a time until these requirments meet , its just hanging in , there is great potenial for a proper service

There isnt a huge population in south wexford , it would never boom , but it could benefit with a through limerick - wexford town service supplemented by a Rosslare - Waterford and wellingtonbrige - wexford commuter services Last edited by Colm Moore : 27-11-2012 at 00:36. Reason: [/quote] |
