National Forecast

24 October 2011 15:49

Today

Spells of heavy rain affecting Ulster, Leinster and parts of east Munster will clear early tonight. Elsewhere, patches of light rain will soon die out but it will stay cloudy for a time. Isolated showers will develop overnight near western coasts, otherwise there will be clear spells, and fog will form widely inland. Winds will remain light and it will turn cooler. Lowest temperatures 3 to 7 degrees Celsius.

Tomorrow

Fog will clear on Tuesday morning, then occasional showers will affect southern and western counties. However, elsewhere will be mainly dry with sunny intervals. Winds will be light to moderate, south to southwest and temperatures will rise to between 10 and 13 degrees Celsius.

Outlook

Tuesday night will be dry with clear spells and light winds. Cold overnight with lows of 0 to 4 Celsius and widespread ground frost. Cool on Wednesday and Thursday with highs of 9 to 12 Celsius and light to moderate breezes between south and west in direction. Bright or sunny spells on both days, and mostly dry apart from a few scattered showers, but cloud will increase in the west and northwest on Thursday bringing some rain to west Connacht and west Ulster later in the day. Widespread frost on Wednesday night but frost confined to southeastern and some southern parts on Thursday night. A lot of dry bright weather on Friday also, the best of the sunshine in the east and southeast, but increasing cloud and freshening southerly winds will bring rain into the southwest, west and northwest later in the day. Highs 11 to 14 Celsius. Mild and breezy on Friday night with patchy rain or drizzle in places. A bit milder for the weekend with highs of 12 to 14 or 15 Celsius. Breezy on Saturday with persistent rain spreading countrywide during the day, the rain heavy at times in the southwest and west. The rain will clear away eastwards later in the day and overnight to give a brighter day on Sunday with sunny spells and scattered showers but rain likely again Sunday night.
