New family Leap cards for €10 for 24 hours:

Covers Dart, Short Hop Commuter, Luas, Dublin Bus (including Airlink and Nitelink) and Bus Eireann "Red Zone".

I hadn't heard of Red Zone, so I went looking and found this:

Great to see BE adopting a zonal system, but there's still a vast discrepancy in fares charged. For example Drogheda and Navan are both in the blue zone, and similar distances from Dublin, but cash fares are €8.00 to Drogheda but €14.30 to Navan. Leap card fares are €7.80 and €11.44 respectively.

Sorry this is moving away from rail, but if they adopt a zone system, shouldn't they apply it to all relevant fares?

James
The zones only apply to the 24 hour, weekly, monthly and annual tickets on Bus Eireann.

The cash fares and pay-as-you-go LEAP fares are based on the staged fare system and I can't see that changing any time soon.
