The 11.00hrs Dublin-Cork service this morning struck debris from a landslide on the line, approximately a quarter-mile south of Portarlington Station.
The locomotive of the train partially derailed as a result. No other carriages derailed, and thankfully nobody on board was injured.
The line is blocked - as a result, there will be major disruption to all services between Dublin and Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway and Westport.
