I'd have to check but I think it is the only county town in Leinster without a railway.
Kildare, Naas, Portlaoise, Wicklow, Arklow, Drogheda, Dundalk, Tullamore, Mullingar, Dublin, etc are all rail served.
Navan is not special but it is different.
