[19-7-2006] Maynooth Line

Here we go again, it seems to suffer far too much from the random failure of early morning services

Quote:

Maynooth services operating normally by Corporate Communications

Maynooth-Dublin and Sligo/Longford-Dublin servicea are operating normally this morning, following an earlier incident involving a track maintenance vehicle at Coolmine Level Crossing.

The vehicle derailed at Coolmine at low speed at approximately 03.00hrs. No-one was injured in the incident.

The 0545 Connolly to Maynooth service was cancelled, as was the Maynooth to Clonsilla leg of the 0627 Maynooth to Pearse.

All services are now operating normally after the line was cleared.

[19-7-2006] Maynooth Line

Commuter train services in west Dublin have been disrupted to a train derailment.

The Coolmine Road in west Dublin remains closed at the Coolmine level crossing where a track maintenance machine derailed earlier.

Rail Services between Maynooth and Pearse Station have resumed as normal.

Did the heat warp the rails?

Mark Gleeson 19-07-2006 09:06

at 3am ??

Probably the machine was tamping the track and continued over the crossing instead of stopping

James Shields 19-07-2006 09:34

Does it really take more than 2 hours 45 mins to rerail?

Mark Gleeson 19-07-2006 09:49

Back in the old days you would be surprised how far you could get with a few blocks of wood and a bit of physical force

I get the feeling the level crossing took some damage possibly the surface needed part replacement
