WHEN DART TEXT GETS IT WRONG
There is nothing more annoying than getting to the station to find out it's ages till the next dart, so they invented dart txt.
Only thing is, there is still nothing more annoying than getting to the station to find out that it is ages till the next dart, because sometimes they get it wrong:D |

Dont worry a complaint was lodged with REGTEL on Thursday last
|
I'll explain what is actually wrong with it
1. If a train is cancelled it is shown as running on time 2. If services are suspended over certain sections it wont account for that 3. It does really stupid things Eg right now 13:51 Board Pearse southbound reads Bray 3 (13:54) Bray 25 (14:16) DARTxt at 13:48 reported Bray 13:51 (out by 3 minutes) Lansdowne 14:05 (WTF?) Bray 14:16 (ok) 4. Its useless for Malahide and Portmarnock since it doesn't deal with suburban trains. I found that out one night |
I spoke to a Times journo about this nearly 2 years ago. Never seen the article. I guess those who bother to use it don't actually create an environment of complaint.
|
I complained about it before when it failed to list a train I could have caught.
I arrived at the station just in time to see it pulled out. I got the following e-mail back: "I would like to apologise for the mistake on Dartxt this morning. This information comes directly from the Customer Information System (CIS) which is kept up to date by train movements. Unfortunately when there is a short unexpected stoppage the CIS has to be manipulated manually and where a system requires intervention mistakes can happen. There was an incident that occurred at 9.30 this morning which effectively rendered the information that you requested at 9.25 useless. I would like to apologise for this and I will forward your refund application to O2. Regards" Given that I hadn't given them my mobile number, I don't see how they were going to refund me. |

Our complaint is being taken seriously, IE are well aware that the complaint exists but have decided to wait and leave the service in place
Very least they could do is have the cop to realise they have been caught out and can't talk around it |
Think its time for some fun
Send DART PEARSE to 53700 anytime between now and 13:50 today Why are there trains terminating in Lansdowne Rd ? Hang on they are also invisible |
for the benefit of those that don't want to pay 30c or whatever...

Well if you look at the new timetable you will see the DARTXT ad has changed and now includes a disclaimer, that was all our doing

Sure was. Well done Mark.
A good customer orientated project. A small win despite regtel's pedantic response to original letter. |
