Due to engineering works between Cork and Thurles, the following service alterations will take place on the dates below:

Friday 22nd November
•21:00hrs Heuston to Cork will operate to Limerick Jct. only. Customers travelling to Mallow and Cork will be transferred by bus from Thurles.

Saturday 23rd November
•All Cork/Heuston services will operate with bus transfers between Cork and Thurles. Buses will depart Cork 30mins in advance of normal train departure time.
•All Tralee/Heuston services will operate with bus transfers between Mallow and Thurles. Buses will depart Tralee 40mins in advance of normal train departure time.
•17:00hrs Heuston to Cork service is being combined with the 17:05hrs Heuston to Tralee service and will depart Heuston at 17:05hrs. Customers travelling onwards to Mallow and Cork will be transferred by bus from Thurles..

Please note that a 35/40 minute delay may occur due to these alterations.

Oddly, although the Cork/Mallow line appears to be open on Saturday November 23rd, the only trains running are the 0645, 0800, 0820, 0855, 1655, 1805, 1845, 2055, 2200 and 2300 from Cork and 0655, 0729, 0800, 0830, 0850, 1730, 1758, 1930, 2037 and 2230 from Mallow.

All Cork/Mallow/Cork services, normally formed by Dublin/Cork/Dublin services are bus substituted on this date. Surely a railcar could be found to shuttle up and down at or close to the normal schedule.

Surly demand would not be sufficient for it as majority of passengers are for Dublin and it would probably cost the company more, morning and evening peak is different so that's why its probably operating.

I don't think all the points renewal at Charleville are completed yet.

I imagine there would be a lot more Cork to Mallow passengers on the 1520, 1620 or 1720 from Cork than on the 2200 or 2300 which are trains - could be wrong though !

Also passengers between Cork and Killarney/Tralee are being forced onto to buses for no obvious reason other than operator convenience.
