Oddly, although the Cork/Mallow line appears to be open on Saturday November 23rd, the only trains running are the 0645, 0800, 0820, 0855, 1655, 1805, 1845, 2055, 2200 and 2300 from Cork and 0655, 0729, 0800, 0830, 0850, 1730, 1758, 1930, 2037 and 2230 from Mallow.
All Cork/Mallow/Cork services, normally formed by Dublin/Cork/Dublin services are bus substituted on this date. Surely a railcar could be found to shuttle up and down at or close to the normal schedule. |
Surly demand would not be sufficient for it as majority of passengers are for Dublin and it would probably cost the company more, morning and evening peak is different so that's why its probably operating.
I don't think all the points renewal at Charleville are completed yet. |
I imagine there would be a lot more Cork to Mallow passengers on the 1520, 1620 or 1720 from Cork than on the 2200 or 2300 which are trains - could be wrong though !
Also passengers between Cork and Killarney/Tralee are being forced onto to buses for no obvious reason other than operator convenience. |
