Travel Update
Sunday 15th September @ 14.00

The Luas Red Line is operating between Tallaght / Saggart and Connolly Stop only.

We are not operating in the Docklands area for safety reasons.

We apologsise for any inconvenience caused.

The frequency on a Sunday ranges between 10-15 minutes depending on the time you are travelling

Luas has extra services running today between Heuston and Connolly/ Red Cow and Connolly to facilitate the increase in passenger numbers. These additional services will operate in conjunction with the normal service.

We advise passengers to allow extra time to travel.

*N.B* Red Cow P&R full please divert to Cheeverstown P&R

Some problems....

Some people complaining about the Red Cow P and R today...long queues for parking tickets, then LUAS tickets, then no trams with capacity...some seemed to have gotten back into their cars and driven in.
Assume all was ok on DARTS and suburban trains?

On Twitter, they were advising people to go to Cheeverstown.

I do wonder about these events, what costs they impose on transport operators above revenue and to what extent event organisers should have to contribute.

Seemed to be an over-provision of DARTs. Around 12,000 passengers northbound and westbound out of Connolly between 1540 and 1830. 14 DARTs carrying around 4,500, 4 Northern outer suburban carrying around 2,000, 8 Maynooth/Longford carrying around 4,300. The remaining passengers were about 750 to Belfast and 550 to Sligo, each two trains.

DART traffic appears to have been over-estimated while Maynooth and northern outer suburban were particularly heavily loaded. A number of DART specials did not run due to lack of demand.

If you're a transport operator and you can't make a tonne of money by filling to the brim as many trams as you can lay on of a Sunday afternoon, you're doing something wrong.
