Someone changed something on the online timetables yesterday

This led to some interesting side effects
Attachment 349

It really is beyond even the normal level of Irish Rail stupidity

he cant in fairness, there would be too many loose leaves, and its likely he wouldnt have reserved a seat, he'd be too round to fit in to the space between carriages where he would have to stand and faint due to overcrowding, presents would be delayed so he would have to issue a general announcement to children apologising for the delay in delivering their presents due to engineering works and it would take him 3 hours to go 160 miles whereas in the meantime the elves have driven down quicker on the roads and collected him from cork where a €4m station revamp is taking place just in time for the €4m to be completely wasted when the whole station has to be turned around to face the quay in a further €25m reconstruction. Meanwhile the reindeer starved from hunger as there was only one packet of crisps left on the train and they hadnt the twelve euro to buy 2 sausages and an egg

He could get refund vouchers for next year though

Just had a look at the online timetable for various dates in late December. Leaving the Christmas Day cockup aside, there appear to be fewer Cork-Dublin trains than at present (no 0530 and no connection at MAllow into the morning Tralee-Dublin). I thought we were supposed to have an hourly service in the new December timetable?

Is the hourly timetable being ditched, postponed or what? Its getting close now, so we should be told. This just could be heading for the biggest scandal in CIE history: gazzillions of public money poured into the company for what???

Mark Gleeson 03-11-2006 10:09

Don't rely on any timetable info beyond Dec 9th, there isn't a 5:30 in the 2007 one its either 5:20 or 5:15

You don't need much insight to know hourly to Cork is on indefinite hold, only 5 out of the 8 sets are available, the spanners are out on set 6, set 7 is still floating around and 8 is well missing a few bits, only one coach has the revised suspension and all citygold services are still Mk3, they are still short staff as we pointed out way back in April

Should note all other European operators have published their2007 timetables already about 4 to 6 weeks ago

Any takers on where the 5.30am Cork disappeared to? I know it's meant to leave Cork 15 mins earlier (5.15?) but ACustomer's right, no sign of it on dates in December (I tried w/c 18 & 11th Of Dec)
I hope this is a bug!

EDIT Saw Mark's post. I guess the new timetable hasn't been snuck on to the website so.

Mark Gleeson 03-11-2006 10:15

Irish Rail have since withdrawn 25th and 26th of Dec from the timetable

Maybe they need to look at 31st Dec / 1st Jan as well

Seat res only works 28 days ahead thus the new timetable must be online no later than the 11th of November

It reads as if the 2007 timetable has been suspended on all Heuston based services till at least mid January, Connolly not showing any strange issues

PaulM 03-11-2006 11:15

It's a shame that when IE see us saying things like the online timetable is bad they fix it instantly but when they see us say that a disabled elephant has better customer service skills they choose not to do anything about. Aren't they great?

2Funki4Wheelz 03-11-2006 11:45

Perhaps they will recruit said elephant and he will be smiling pleasantly and wearing his namebadge as he checks tickets this evening.
