More demanding performance targets set for Dublin Bus, Irish Rail, Bus Eireann
Our friends at the NTA have increased the targets for all CIE group companies
http://nationaltransport.ie/download...ce_targets.pdf nationaltransport.ie/public_transport.html Still below European standards but moving closer after years of stagnation. Cork finally is included as is the Nenagh line and Waterford - Limerick Junction. RUI raised there absence with the NTA |
Cork is properly included, but Limerick-Waterford and the Nenagh line aren't. There are only obligations to report punctuality, and no targets. Is there a commitment to impose targets once the NTA see what current performance is?
|
The NTA will increase the targets each year
There is a serious issue with the Nenagh line which we have raised with the NTA which requires investigation. Basically Irish Rail has no consistent record of arrivals at Ballybrophy The inclusion of these routes is in part thanks to a meeting we had with the NTA last year and the fallout from the Waterford Rosslare closure which exposed a number of issues with Irish Rail's operational practices. There are other subtle changes, the party is over for Irish Rail management and financial penalties are on the horizon |

If a target is 90% and 99% is consistenly achieved, then that needss to be upped towards the 99%, assuming it is an important target. If a target is 90% and less than 90% is consistenly achieved, then questions need to be asked why it isn't being achieved and see what can be done to achieve it. Some targets were rediculously unabmitious - I think Dublin Bus only had to have 80% of bus stop timetables up to date and only 90% of buses had to show the destination on the front - something that is important on a train, but vital on a bus. |
Any short-running services aren't split out from the core routes, primarily:
Dublin-Dundalk (Drogheda is split out) Dublin-Longford (Maynooth / M3 are split out) Dublin-Athlone-Galway Dublin-Portlaoise (Kildare is split out) Dublin-Gorey Ennis-Limerick Mallow-Tralee Mallow-Cork Limerick Junction-Limerick Manulla Junction-Ballina (grouped with Dublin-Westport/Ballina) |
