Dublin Bus would also like to wish their passengers festive cheer too.

Firstly, they'll cancel your bus service without warning.

Secondly, (as with the other transport networks) they'll pickpocket you another fare increase in the coming days.

When you've absorbed that, Happy New Decade all the same.

yep it was disappointing not to have a bus service but given the state of some of the roads i blame the council on this. People made a wise choice roads were more or less empty today.

Great start to the new year though ! Fireworks and snow falling ! Would have hated to be walking home from the pub in that !

There will be no fares increased in 2010 by any state owned/backed public transport operator

They have however increased the price of most annual taxsaver tickets, mine went up by €4 a week, a disgrace giving deflation in the economy and no improvements considering the KRP is finished

Annual ticket prices were increased in Jan 2009 on foot of the 10% increase back then. As a result, annual tickets sold now are more expensive than those issued in Dec 2008.

The KRP is not finished; the old, now down tracks, have to be renewed and this will take much of 2010 to do.

I'll say again there will be no increases in fares in 2010

The last authorised increase took place in Jan 2009, and that includes tax saver tickets, so you got 11 months on the old cheaper rate while the rest of us paid the 2009 fare increase. Thats why the majority of tax saver tickets are sold in November/December to beat the planned increase, that has been neutralised as there is no increase in 2010.

I have to say fair play to the TaxSaver people - I renewed my annual ticket in February, but as the application had to be in by the end of January, we were allowed the 2008 price.

I can understand Dublin Bus suspending services early given the road conditions, but I think more could have been done to alert passengers and give them some warning to get home before services ended.
