[30-12-09] 10.30 cork Dublin
I thought enterprise was bad. But this service currently is standing room only from mallow!! And there are reserved seats from Limerick junction!
As one train host described it "people who aren't used to travelling".
People are still showing up speculatively for trains that are near or fully booked out. A change of mindset is needed. |
That's what €10 fares will do.
I agree. I suppose it's hard to stop selling tickets for overbooked trains, especially when dealing with Tralee/ Killarney too
There is work in train (pun intended) to sell the first X seats on the train at price €A, the next Y seats at the higher price €B, and so on. Worth noting that carriages B, F, and G on Dublin-Cork-Dublin (excluding 0800/0900/1130/1230 which are operated by 3-car 22000s) aren't available to be reserved and are always first-come first-served for people with open tickets. I can't say I'd fancy getting on at an intermediate station without a reservation mind you.

Already rows are breaking out over reserved seats
You have to bear in mind those standing paid full fare. The 10:30 was not booked out either.
Rules are simple, want to travel at the lowest price in comfort, book online. With an hourly service in place there is a large amount of capacity unused at times during the day |

Fair play to attendant. He is trying to sort out everything. Moved few people to first class. I'm sure Irish rail knew by time kilarney/ trallee train left, that it would be bad as the atttendant said that train was going to be very full today after we left cork

Thomas Ralph: If the "old ladies" were indeed old (66+) then its free. If they were less than 66, then take cover before you call them "old ladies" !
I can't give the details but, the Dept of Social Welfare is to blame for the mess with the passes. There was a booking solution worked out for them

Well it arrived at heuston 5 mins early. Some ppl stood from Limerick jct to heuston
One wee addition. On Luas I overheard two women giving out about having to get a bus from ennis coz of flooding to the train only to have to sit on their bags from Limerick junction. Public transport :(
Now for the 15.20 to Belfast :p
My information is over 200 people joined the train at Mallow from the connecting train from Tralee

All times are GMT. The time now is 11:52. |
